Cambridge English provides the world’s most valuable range of exams and qualifications for learners and teachers providing English language assessments and qualifications for over 100 years. BritEd Costa Rica currently offers examinations for the following levels:

• Young Learners (YLE Starters, Movers and Flyers)
• General English for Schools (KET, PET and FCE)
• General English for Adults (KET, PET, FCE, CAE and CPE)
• Professional Certifications (BEC and TKT)

Young Learners (YLE)

The Cambridge English Young Learners is a series of fun, motivating English language tests, aimed at children in primary and lower-secondary education. There are three activity-based tests – Starters, Movers and Flyers. This gives students a clear path to improve in English.

YLE STARTERS: Is the start of a child’s language learning journey. The test introduces them to everyday written and spoken English in a fun and motivating way.
YLE MOVERS: Is the next step in a child’s language learning journey, after taking Cambridge English: Starters. It is a great way to help children build on their language skills and make further progress in English.
YLE FLYERS: Is the next step of a child’s language learning journey, after taking Cambridge English: Movers. It is a great way to show children can deal with everyday written and spoken English at a basic level.

General English for Schools

Key English Test (KET) for Schools: Shows that a student can use simple, everyday written and spoken English. This test is a basic level qualification.
Preliminary English Test (PET) for Schools: Shows that a student can understand and communicate using everyday written and spoken English. This test is an intermediate level qualification.
First Certificate in English (FCE) for Schools: Is specially tailored to suit the interests of students, so it increases their motivation to learn English. Because it is based on familiar topics and situations, it gives them the confidence to use their English and inspires them to move on to further qualifications. This test is at an upper-intermediate level.

General English for Adults

Key English Test (KET) for Adults: Is a basic level qualification that shows you can use English to communicate in simple situations. It shows you have made a good start in learning English.
Preliminary English Test (PET) for Adults: Is an intermediate level qualification. It shows you are able to use your English language skills for work, study and travel.
First Certificate in English (FCE) for Adults: Is an upper-intermediate level qualification. It proves you can use everyday written and spoken English for work or study purposes.
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): This test helps to develop the language skills people need for success, and can be used for universities and student visa applications in the UK and Australia. Preparing CAE helps learners develop the skills to make the most of studying, working and living in English-speaking countries. More than 4,000 educational institutions, businesses and government departments around the world accept this exam as proof of high-level achievement.
Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): Is the most advanced qualification in Cambridge English. It proves you have achieved an extremely high level in English.

Professional Certifications

Business English Certificate (BEC): Cambridge English: Business Certificates are designed to give you practical skills to help you succeed in English-speaking international business environments. Business English Certificate (BEC): Vantage is the second of the three certificates. It is an upper-intermediate level exam. Business English Certificate (BEC): Higher is the third of the three certificates. It is a high level exam.

Teaching Knowledge (TKT)

This test will help you teach English to school children at home or around the world. Use TKT to increase your confidence as a teacher and improve your job prospects.
